Maundy Relief Counselling Service

Maundy Relief Counselling Service is a professional organisation with a large team of counsellors.

We offer counselling to anyone who approaches our service and are inclusive of all members of the public regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation.

We receive referrals from many sources including GP surgeries, NHS Mental Health Teams, Probation Services, Social Services and voluntary organisations. Individuals can also self refer.

Counselling involves a therapeutic relationship with a counsellor to help clients find a way forward with any aspect of life. Some of the concerns which clients seek to address in counselling include:

  • Mental Health Issues
  • Relationship problems
  •  Anxiety
  •  Abuse / Domestic Violence
  •  Trauma
  • Bereavement
  •  Depression
  • Suicidal feelings
  • Substance Misuse
  • Self Harm

However you can bring anything to counselling as our desire is to work with you as a whole person. The number of sessions available will be discussed at the initial assessment.

Maundy Relief hosts a number of groups e.g. Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, Gamblers Anonymous. For further information on these please contact our office.

Our counselling service is a confidential service which means that what you discuss within your sessions will stay between your counsellor and yourself. Our confidentiality policy will be discussed with you during our assessment and during your first counselling session.

We are open Monday to Friday 9.30am to 4.00pm.

We will take your contact details so that we can get in touch with you to arrange an initial assessment. Assessments take approximately half an hour and are usually available within a week.

During the assessment we will tell you about our counselling service and explain what we can offer you. As a charity organisation we rely on contributions from our service users, during your assessment you will be asked to agree to a financial contribution which will go towards the running costs of the service. An hour of counselling costs MRCS £12.50, with this in mind we ask clients to make a contribution towards the sustainability of the service.

Following the assessment, we will allocate you to a suitable counsellor or offer other support if necessary. All of our counsellors are carefully selected, have undertaken suitable training and are fully insured and CRB checked.

If you have any questions feel free to contact our office to speak to a member of staff.

All are welcome
